Uli Machold is a member of the Chamber of Architects and a registered civil engineer. Together with Jutta Wörtl-Gössler, she is head of the office ‘RfM Räume für Menschen_Architektur’. She studied architecture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna in Timo Penttilä’s masterclass and won the Schütte Lihotzky Prize for ‘Innovative Building’ in 1994. During and after her studies, she worked in several architectural practices in Austria and Portugal (Rüdiger Lainer’s practice in Vienna, Álvaro Siza’s practice in Porto, Portugal, Manfred Wehdorn’s practice in Vienna, A3 Coimbra in Portugal, Georg W. Reinberg’s practice in Vienna, amongst others). In 2018, she completed the European Straw Bale Construction Course and received a certificate.
Uli Machold possesses specialist knowledge in the fields of urban regeneration and research, as well as subsidised refurbishment and maintenance. Through her planning work, she has acquired expertise in materials ecology and construction engineering, as well as experience of transdisciplinary work that integrates ecological, economic and social perspectives. Additional areas of expertise include participatory housing, straw bale and earth construction, property refurbishment, urban regeneration, urban and open-space planning, research, Land Art, Social Art and performance
