Vision
The anotHERVIEWture Award is Austria's first award dedicated specifically to raising the profile and recognition of female architects and engineers. Initiated by the Austrian Federal Chamber of Architects and Chartered Engineering Consultants, the award has been sending a clear signal for equality, and diversity since 2022.
Role models such as Zaha Hadid, Margarete Schütte-Lihotsky, and Ise Meitner have inspired entire generations of female architects and engineers, and the anotHERVIEWture Award aims to create role models for the future.
Although women make up more than half of the Austrian population, this social reality is not adequately reflected in the technical and design professions: only 15% of the approximately 8,000 engineers with valid licenses are women. In the field of architecture, the proportion is 22%, and among engineers, only 5%.
This is where the anotHERVIEWture Award comes in. Its name refers to a new perspective — Her View — and thus to the central concern of making the achievements of female architects and civil engineers visible and highlighting their contribution to society.
Our goals are clear:
- To highlight and recognize women's contributions to building culture.
- To emphasize the importance of women in technical professions and their role in providing highly complex planning services.
- To create networking opportunities and empower women in technical planning professions.
- Create role models who inspire other women.
- Raise awareness that the advancement of women in technical professions is important and necessary.
- Increase the proportion of women among architects and engineers.
The award is presented every two years and provides an international platform for women who have made a significant contribution to building culture through their creative quality, technical expertise, innovative strength, and social responsibility.

YesWePlan
The idea for the anotHERVIEWture Award originated from the YesWePlan! project. This project, co-funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ program, brought together various European partner organizations to exchange experiences and best practice examples in order to reduce the gender gap in architecture and civil engineering. YesWePlan! ran from November 2019 to April 2022 and was coordinated by the Austrian Federal Chamber of Architects and Chartered Engineering Consultants.
