Riham El Moazen

The Centre for Plastic Surgery (completed in 2026) is the transformation of the ground floor of a private residence in Rhode-Saint-Genèse, Belgium, into a clinic for plastic surgery and aesthetic treatments.
The project reimagines the existing domestic layout through a series of precise architectural interventions. At its core is the transformation of the building's long, narrow corridor into an accessible and generous threshold. A continuous wall element incorporating storage, seating, and integrated functions expands this circulation space and relocates the waiting area into it, turning what was once merely a passage into a place of encounter. It is here that every patient's journey begins.
From this shared space, patients enter one of three consultation rooms. These rooms are conceived as calm environments whose spatial richness emerges through carefully considered details. Ceiling slats conceal the technical installations attached to the ceiling, while contributing to the expression of the space. Custom-designed washbasins and translucent curtains made from kite textile further contribute to the atmosphere, introducing layers of materiality, light, and privacy.
Two of the consultation spaces accommodate minor procedures, while the third has access to a changing room and a small surgery room.
Following a sequence of necessary consultations for multiple weeks before surgery, the patient finally enters the surgery room - a space entirely clad in slightly reflective brushed aluminium - the final stage of the spatial and medical journey.
