Iskra Lekovska is a Macedonian architect and co-founder of Studio lelelele, an architectural practice established in Skopje in 2008 together with architect Vladimir Lekovski.
She is the recipient of the Grand Annual Award of the Association of Architects of Macedonia (2025) for the Best Realized Architectural Project in Macedonia, presented by the President of the Republic of Macedonia. Her work has received numerous national and international distinctions in architectural and urban design competitions. In 2008, she was part of the team representing Macedonia at the 11th Venice Architecture Biennale as a contributor to the Macedonian Pavilion exhibition Out There: Architecture Beyond Building.
Her work explores the relationship between contemporary architecture, cultural memory, and the contemporary interpretation of Orthodox sacred architecture. Working simultaneously within the fields of contemporary design, public architecture, heritage conservation, and ecclesiastical architecture, she has developed an approach that seeks continuity rather than opposition between tradition and innovation.
Over the past two decades, she has designed and realized a diverse body of work including public buildings, cultural facilities, hospitality projects, urban interventions, industrial complexes, conservation projects, and numerous Orthodox churches and monastic complexes. Her architectural practice combines conceptual research, engineering precision, material experimentation, and close collaboration with artists, craftsmen, engineers, and cultural institutions.
In 2008, at the age of twenty-seven, she won the anonymous international competition organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia for the Church of Saints Constantine and Helena in Skopje. Designed and realized under her leadership, the project has become one of the most significant contemporary Orthodox churches built in Macedonia in recent decades.
Through her work, Iskra Lekovska investigates architecture as a synthesis of cultural continuity, contemporary thought, artistic expression, and technical innovation, creating projects that establish a meaningful dialogue between historical memory and contemporary architectural practice.
