Town Hall Prinzersdorf

The Prinzersdorf town hall is part of a remarkable ensemble which, together with the church and the bank building opposite, represents a unique contemporary document of late post-war modernism in Lower Austria. The town hall (completed in 1973/architect Hable) follows the ideals of modernity in its structural design. It shows its supporting structure with a reinforced concrete support grid placed on the outside, behind which are continuous band windows with ceramic-clad parapets. This creates a house without corridors inside, with the best lighting in all areas, both in the development, in the workplaces and in the halls.

The original reference to the Lower Austrian national colors blue/yellow as the basic concept of the house can be found in numerous building and equipment elements. Not only are the juxtaposed buildings of the town hall and the bank on both sides of the church "blue" and "yellow", but also the floors, tiles, wall colors and the furniture such as sofas or armchairs in these colors originally in the town hall.

Overall, the town hall is characterized by the special quality, high-quality materials and consistent conceptuality, which allow a restoration approach in the treatment of the existing substance and justified further construction. Particular importance was attached to preserving key elements such as the original natural stone floors, wooden doors, wall paneling, copper roofing, acoustic ceilings, chandeliers in the meeting room and the main staircase with its striking aluminum and glass balustrades.
