The apartment is located in a former Viennese shoe factory, its industrial prehistory is visible through an imposing iron column with I-beam resting on it. This structures the empty space asymmetrically and at the same time spans 10 meters of room length without any partitions. A cap ceiling provides 3.60 meters of room height and emphasizes the north-south orientation of the apartment. Following this direction, the room-length solid floorboards made of Douglas fir were also laid. In the entrance area is a frieze of the same wood around large-format gray-blue natural stone slabs.
The apartment is lit by a northern window axis, attached to the entrance area, and a southern window axis with a balcony.
The living space is divided by a cube, in and around which functions such as bathroom, closet, storage areas, washing machine and bedroom are located. A false ceiling of exposed wood beams rests on top of the joinery, allowing it to be used as a guest room, while below it the bedroom is an intimate bunk. Two sliding doors screen this private sleeping area from the adjacent living space - on the opposite side facing north, curtains take over this function.
