This application is presented as a professional statement highlighting the role of women in architecture, infrastructure, and engineering, as well as the value of integrating architectural and environmental expertise in sustainable infrastructure development.
The Kumanovo–Beljakovce Railway Project, part of Corridor VIII, is a strategic railway investment covering approx. 31 km. together with Lot 2 and Lot 3 (in total approx. 80 km), designed for a maximum speed of 100 km/h. It forms a continuous rail connection towards the EU border with Bulgaria and is a key segment of the Trans-European Transport Network. The project strengthens regional connectivity, supports sustainable mobility, circular economy principles, and contributes to long-term territorial integration, while remaining sections are still under development.
Within this project, I served as Architect and Sustainability & ESHS Expert, responsible for integrating environmental governance, social responsibility, and occupational health and safety throughout the project lifecycle. My role included Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), ESHS management, stakeholder engagement, environmental monitoring, and ensuring compliance with international environmental and social standards, translating sustainability requirements into practical implementation across design and construction phases.
With 31 years of international experience in a traditionally male-dominated engineering sector, I work at the intersection of architecture, engineering, and environmental governance, viewing infrastructure as a system where technical performance, environmental responsibility, and social value are inseparable from the outset.
True engineering leadership is defined not by discipline alone, but by the ability to transform complexity into responsible, sustainable, and inclusive outcomes through integrated architectural and environmental expertise in the sustainable development of complex infrastructure.
