Metall-Technologiezentrum Taufkirchen

Claire Braun

A joint technology centre with Pöttinger Entsorgungstechnik was built on the premises of Metallwerkstätten Pöttinger in Taufkirchen an der Trattnach. In addition to the existing buildings, an office complex with 2,000 m² of office space and an assembly hall of the same size were built on the narrow plot between the road and the existing buildings.
The five-storey office building with a roof terrace is intended to contribute to reducing land consumption and soil sealing. But the new building is innovative in other ways too: the shape of the structure differs significantly from the standardised industrial and administrative buildings in the surrounding area. Even the assembly hall is subject to this design principle.
Each building material is used according to its optimal application; wood is the dominant material for the hall, while concrete is used as the primary structure for the office complex. Concrete component activation in the ceilings significantly reduces energy consumption and CO2 emissions, as it allows for low-temperature operation.
