Mainstream headquarters interior design
Milena Zindović
New Mainstream workspace spans 700 square meters across the top three floors of a prominent business building in the heart of Belgrade. This ambitious interior design project successfully overcomes the technical constraints of the renovated structure, transforming challenges—such as irregular columns and pre-installed mechanical systems—into creative drivers. To maximize ceiling height, existing dropped ceilings were removed, exposing the fine-ribbed structure for a distinct industrial aesthetic.
The overarching concept was to create a flexible, dynamic environment tailored to a growing IT company's hybrid work style. The layout is thoughtfully distributed: the fifth floor combines open-plan areas and individual offices for technical services, while the sixth floor houses the reception and management. The seventh floor acts as the vibrant heart of the company, dedicated to team meetings, relaxation, and events, seamlessly connecting to a large rooftop terrace.
A unifying design element throughout all three levels is the use of OSB boards. From server masks to phone booths, the reception desk, and custom tribune seating that doubles as steps to the rooftop, the OSB provides warmth and an industrial edge. This is playfully contrasted on the top floor with vibrant, pixelated floor coverings matching the company's branding, alongside custom multifunctional furniture and a central bar area.
To emphasize the stunning panoramic city views from the main meeting room, the design takes a minimalist approach with white furniture and transparent lighting fixtures. Generous indoor greenery, including hanging planters, enhances air quality and employee well-being. Ultimately, the project masterfully balances functionality, aesthetics, and modern hybrid needs, providing an inspiring oasis for the Mainstream team.
