L'Eliana Millimeter House

Millimeter House is a single-family dwelling built on a very small plot, where precision defines both design and construction. The limited dimensions eliminate tolerance and demand exact control of measurements, structure and use. The section is the main design tool, organizing space, structure and environmental conditions at once, and enabling maximum spatial quality within strict constraints.
The building is raised above the ground, freeing the entire plot at ground level. This decision transforms the base into a continuous garden-porch, conceived as the main living space. The ground floor operates as an open, shaded and ventilated environment, directly linked to vegetation and water. A continuous glazed perimeter reinforces this condition and allows a gradual transition between interior and exterior.
The section defines a compact vertical core in exposed concrete that concentrates circulation, services and enclosed spaces. Around it, thin reinforced concrete slabs span the footprint, acting simultaneously as structure, ceiling and floor finish. At 20 cm thick, these slabs maximise free height and ensure spatial clarity. A light perimeter structure supports the enclosure and allows flexible organisation of the upper floors.
The project distinguishes between fixed and adaptable elements. The concrete core provides stability, while the rest of the house remains open to transformation over time, enabling different domestic uses without altering the main structure.
Materials are used directly, without cladding. Concrete, glass and metal reduce construction layers and reinforce precision. Sustainability is addressed through durability, adaptability and efficient use of resources.
