This simple and compact home is built on a steep and exposed hill close to the historical city of Feldkirch (Vorarlberg). A perfect blend with the surrounding area was an important goal.

A steep gravel path is leading through a wild garden. The house is easily overseen. The front to the northeast has a bare minimum height to place a light and friendly entrance door. The wall is leading to the right and then a sharp angle is determined by the end of building zone. Thus, the house is appearing even smaller than it actually is.

On the upper floor you are entering a spacious living and cooking area that is opening a terrific view over the city center. A small office and the bedrooms being placed one floor down.

A living area of only 135m² (including the small office) is sealing as little land as possible and the easily adjustable interior allows a transformation of the building into two units.

The render of the interior walls is made of pure lime plaster, an air ventilation system with heat recovery is guaranteeing maximum energy efficiency. All constructive details are optimized for low maintenance and maximum lifespan.

The grey exterior render is also used in the preservation of built heritage as found nearby. The windows and roof are protected by metal claddings. The house is lying like a stone in a steep mountain meadow.

Photovoltaics and geothermal energy condition the building in a sustainable way.
