Futro House

Futro House is conceived as a contemporary retreat—an intimate holiday home and a space for artistic creation, set within the natural landscape between Mount Avala and Kosmaj, near Lake Trešnja. Its placement and orientation follow the geometry of the site, allowing optimal sunlight exposure throughout the year and establishing a strong connection with the surrounding environment.

The architectural concept is defined by the integration of the building into the terrain. The sloped roof follows the natural topography, embedding the volume into the landscape and reducing its visual impact. A dominant overhanging roof extends into a steel pergola structure, designed to support natural vegetation and create a dynamic layer of shading over time.

The building envelope is treated as a unified surface, both on the façade and roof, using thermally modified larch finished with the traditional Japanese wood-burning technique. This approach enhances durability while achieving a consistent, textured patina that reinforces the sculptural quality of the house.

Large glass openings establish a fluid relationship between interior and exterior, while sliding shutters provide flexibility, environmental control, and the possibility of complete enclosure. The house forms two distinct outdoor micro-ambiences: a sun-oriented courtyard and a covered porch, enabling continuous spatial flow and circular movement between inside and outside.

Internally, the space is organized around a central wooden element inserted within a white envelope, integrating key functions such as dining and living. The pitched roof allows for a gallery-level sleeping area, seamlessly integrated into the overall volume.

Futro House balances architectural clarity, material authenticity, and spatial fluidity, creating a compact yet expressive living environment closely connected to nature.
