Campus Messestraße is part of a young and vibrant Viennese quarter between Danube, Messe and Prater. The building accommodates a location of the Sigmund Freud University and a boarding house for teachers and students. It complements the urban model of the neighboring Campus of University of economics.
The ensemble with its high density of diverse uses generates qualitative urban spaces and unifies a clear and functional structure with a special and timeless design.
“Campus Messestraße” consists of three buildings that form a geometrical entity but still stand by themselves in terms of use and design.
The homogenous materialization of the building envelops stresses its sculptural character. Steep slopes and facades almost merge seamlessly. Still the flat edge of the eave forms a prominent element. Its beveled line encircles all three buildings and holds them together in the urban context.
The setting and subtle deformation of the buildings shapes roof terraces with wide views and an inner courtyard. Opening towards the green Prater this urban lounge provides communicative space for all three functions.
Campus Messestraße received the “Iconic Award 2016” and the “Muse Design Award Silver 2019”.
