In a neighborhood of detached houses with plots of around 400 m² and only two meters of setback from neighbors, the façades are treated as party walls to create transparency along the plot’s longitudinal axis. This responds to regulations that generate privacy and sunlight conflicts between adjacent homes.

A central courtyard is introduced to bring natural light into the house without exposing the interior to neighboring views. It also acts as a bioclimatic element for thermal control, lighting, and ventilation. The double-height living room extends toward the courtyard, separated by a glazed façade, incorporating its volume into the interior. Together, courtyard and living space form the core of the house, allowing visual continuity throughout and enhancing the perception of spaciousness despite the limited size.

The house is placed at the center of the plot, freeing both ends for terraces and landscaped areas. The swimming pool occupies the sunniest end, while the garage ramp runs along the north boundary. The ground floor living area opens to the exterior and is defined by travertine marble walls that support the upper volume, which contains the bedrooms and cantilevers to form two porches at either end.

The transparency of the ground floor along the east-west axis—connecting kitchen, courtyard, and living room—allows the house to benefit from changing orientations throughout the day and seasons. The courtyard captures southern light, extending outdoor spaces across the ground level.

The transition to the bedrooms becomes a spatial sequence, from a staircase facing the courtyard to a study-balcony overlooking the double-height space. Bedroom façades to the east and west are screened with vertical aluminum louvers, filtering sunlight and ensuring privacy.

Despite the constraints of a narrow plot, the design achieves a house that feels open and spacious while maintaining privacy and a strong connection to outdoor spaces
