Augarten Toilets
Susanne Zottl
Public restroom units, located at two sites within Vienna’s protected oldest baroque garden, are conceived as contemporary interventions in the historic landscape. Their concave ceramic facades translate the rhythm of tree alleys, while gently undulating rooflines echo the terrain. Daylit interiors ensure openness in an otherwise closed typology.
Designed as inclusive, barrier-free, and free to use, the pavilions are framed by fountains and seating, transforming functional infrastructure into generous public places.
