Lead Demolition Design Engineer

Marija Sojcic is a Chartered Civil Engineer specializing in demolition engineering, structural engineering and the design of complex demolition projects. She has extensive experience in preparing demolition designs, developing innovative demolition methodologies and coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams in accordance with the Croatian Building Act and European engineering standards.

As the Lead Demolition Design Engineer, she has independently designed and managed numerous technically demanding demolition projects involving high-rise buildings, industrial facilities, bridges and other complex reinforced concrete and steel structures. Her expertise includes structural assessment of fire-damaged buildings, selective demolition, high-reach demolition, diamond wire sawing, heavy lifting operations, occupational health and safety, construction waste management and environmental protection.

Marija was the Lead Demolition Design Engineer for the Preparation of Design Documentation and Execution of Demolition Works for the Vjesnik Tower and the Western Annex, one of Croatia's most complex urban demolition projects. She developed the demolition methodology for the safe removal of the 67-metre-high fire-damaged tower while ensuring uninterrupted traffic flow on one of Zagreb's busiest transport corridors and maintaining the highest standards of public safety and environmental protection.

Her projects consistently demonstrate engineering innovation, technical excellence and sustainable construction practices through the application of circular economy principles, advanced demolition technologies and responsible resource management.
